Spelthorne Borough Council has submitted a planning application in relation to the development of land adjacent to the White House, Kingston Road, Ashford, TW15 3SE.
As part of the Council's commitment to deliver new homes in Spelthorne to meet local housing needs, the development plans include 17 one bedroom and two-bedroom homes.
If the planning application is successful, the Council will then partner with Homes England to secure grant funding, enabling the development to offer 100% affordable rental homes for local residents. Once the scheme is completed the homes will be managed by Knowle Green Estates, the Council's wholly owned housing delivery company.
The proposals for the new homes include 17 resident car parking spaces, 20 cycle spaces, underground bin area, a shared communal garden and private balcony space.
Cllr Maureen Attewell, Chair of the Community Wellbeing and Housing Committee, said: "Following stakeholder engagement last summer, the Council has developed these plans that will deliver high quality attractive homes for residents. The scheme proposes the creation of an inclusive environment which caters for diverse users, including the disabled and visually impaired. The proposed building will also be designed to exceed the requirements for energy usage through reducing energy demand of the building by passive design and efficient climate management systems to reduce carbon emissions."
