Council purchases business property in Sunbury 

Spelthorne Borough Council has announced the purchase of a business property, Elmbrook House, in Sunbury-on-Thames for just over £7m.

Situated next to Sunbury railway station, the newly refurbished property is occupied by insurance provider, Complete Cover Group. The company recently relocated from Hampton and their 10-year lease on Elmbrook House will provide the Council with a secure income stream during that period.

This acquisition follows on from the Council's purchase of the BP campus in Sunbury-on-Thames and forms part of its strategy to buy high quality income generating assets which can be used to protect services following the cuts in funding from central Government.  

Cllr Ian Harvey, Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council, said: "I am delighted to be able to announce this latest purchase which adds to our ever-growing property investment portfolio. The withdrawal of Government funding is forcing us to find new ways to plug the gap in our finances and we believe that these kind of investments are the best way to secure services for our residents into the future."
